Smartphone
There are several classes of smartphone which are differentiated by their operating systems. Whilst each operating system has it benefits and its drawbacks, here we will consider what we believe to be the best of each class.
Of course when it comes to the Apple OS there is no choice other than the amazing iPhone 4 which has set the standard for all other smartphones. The screen, whilst at 3.5 inches is not the largest, the actual screen resolution of 960 by 640 pixels is second to none.
Android phones come in a number of different flavours, and here the choice of the best of the best is a little more clouded, however, we favour the Samsung Galaxy S. The reasons for this are that although at 480 by 800 pixel resolution falls a little short of that of the iPhone, the actual size is bigger. The Galaxy S has a display screen of a full 4.0 inches and it is amazing what difference a half inch can make. It also uses super AMOLED technology which produced a very bright and clear display with fantastic colour rendition. It is even good in full sunlight.
Blackberry phones offer another dilemma. If you choose the RIM operating system then it is likely that you will have different priorities than people who favour the above operating systems; probably email and communicating will be at the head of your priority list; in which case we think that the best of the Blackberry phones is the Blackberry Torch. The reason for this is it combines the best of both blackberry worlds by offering an excellent touch screen along with a hardware slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
The other major competing operating system is of course the Nokia Symbian OS, which still powers more mobile phones than any other OS. In its current release Symbian might not quite have lived up to its expectations however if you are choosing a Nokia phone than the reason for doing so is likely to be that you are more interested in getting a high quality phone with excellent technology; if that is the case than you couldn’t go wrong with the Nokia N8.
The screen size at 3.5 inches is the same as the iPhone 4 and has a lower resolution of 640 by 360 pixels, but you do get what is unarguably the best camera available on any Smartphone. With a 12 megapixel resolution and Carl Zeiss optics there is nothing else that is anywhere close.
Choosing a phone is a very personal decision, but we hope that you will find these suggestions useful. See all the latest smart phones on the market at phones4u.co.uk today .
